ScanSmart

Medically Responsible Screening CT

Introduction

First introduced more than a quarter century ago, Computed Tomography (CT) has improved continuously through technological and scientific advancements. Today, the capability of this essential imaging tool to detect many diseases is enhanced by higher resolution, increased speed and sophisticated image processing.

Several of the new applications of CT include screening for disease in asymptomatic patients.  The radiology practice of Drs. Groover, Christie & Merritt (GCM) is committed to providing a medically responsible alternative to the existing screening CT options currently on the market.  In line with this principle, GCM's ScanSmart program primarily utilizes those tests supported by the medical community. Additionally, by relying on physician referrals, GCM ensures that those individuals who would most benefit from the test undergo the procedure.

The most common and effective types of ScanSmart Screening CT are Coronary Calcium Scoring (CCS); CT of the Chest for smokers; and Virtual Colonoscopy, also known as CT Colonography (CTC).  When requested by the patient and referring physician, Total Body Scanning is also available.
