CT of the Chest offers physicians the most effective and accurate way to determine the presence of tumors for those individuals most at risk for lung cancer, primarily long-term smokers. A ScanSmart CT of the Chest can detect lung tumors at a smaller size than any other medical test available. Since as many as half of chest CTs show tiny benign, pulmonary nodules, GCM offers the first follow-up scan for patients with these nodules at no additional cost, helping the primary physician establish a true baseline.
Individuals who have smoked at least 1 pack per day for 10 years, or who have a strong family history of smoking, should consider undergoing screening CT of the Chest. However, it should be understood that there are currently no official guidelines recommending routine screening for these individuals.
