Interventional Radiology

Radiology is the medical specialty that uses imaging technologies (x-ray, MRI, CT, PET, ultrasound, and more) to accurately diagnose diseases and develop treatment plans to alleviate and/or cure those diseases.

More recently, the field of interventional radiology has provided creative, minimally invasive solutions to previously complicated surgical problems.

At GCM Radiology, our board certified and fellowship trained radiologists use their knowledge and expertise to improve standards of patient care in many areas.

This means that patients whose overall health issues make them poor candidates for traditional surgery, or those for whom the risks of surgery outweighed the benefits, can now receive effective treatment for a variety of conditions.

Patients whose overall health is good benefit because minimally invasive procedures carry fewer surgical risks, require a shorter hospital stay, and involve a shorter recovery period. This means lower costs, less time lost from work, and a quicker return to normal activities.

Interventional radiology is now regularly used in a wide range of applications including: Aneurysm
Chemo-embolization
Coronary health
Cranial and carotid stenting
Deep Vein Thrombosis
Mesenteric Ischemia
Renovascular Hypertension
Spine treatment
Stroke
Transjugular Intrahepatic Porotsystemic Shunt
Uterine Fibroid Embolization
Varicose vein treatment

GCM Radiology's reputation for excellent patient outcomes not only advances excellent care for our own patients, but also advances the science of interventional radiology: we are a recognized education center for many of these procedures, helping to train our colleagues from around the country in the minimally invasive treatment of brain aneurysm, spine compression fractures, varicose veins, chronic pain, and arteriosclerosis.
